A section of Highway 18 in Craighead County will be closed for several weeks beginning next week as the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) works on construction improvements.
Starting Monday, Sept. 28, Highway 18 will be closed between Highway 91 at Winesburg and County Road 160, located north of Highway 226. According to ARDOT, the closure will begin at 8 a.m. and remain in place around the clock until 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 2. During this time, crews will construct a box culvert in the area.
Highway 18 will remain accessible to local traffic on either side of the construction site. However, through traffic will need to seek alternative routes. ARDOT has outlined directions for motorists to navigate the closure using detour routes to access the west and east sides of the affected stretch of road.
