The Jonesboro Fire Department has introduced Safety Cloud by HAAS Alert, a digital alert system designed to notify nearby drivers of emergency vehicles responding to incidents.
According to the department, the system sends notifications directly to in-dash systems of certain vehicles, including 2024 and newer Volkswagen models and 2018 or newer Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and RAM vehicles. Drivers using navigation platforms such as Waze and Apple Maps will also receive alerts if the Safety Cloud system is active in their area.
These alerts give drivers additional time to reduce their speed and move over, supporting compliance with Arkansas’ Move Over laws. The department highlighted that Safety Cloud has shown potential to reduce collision risks by up to 90% in other communities.
Local officials encourage residents to share information about the system with friends and family to help spread awareness and improve roadway safety throughout Jonesboro.
