JONESBORO, Ark. — Trinity Industries will permanently cease heavy railcar maintenance at its Jonesboro facility, a restructuring move expected to affect approximately 172 employees, according to a company statement issued on Sept. 23.
The company announced it will refocus the site’s operations on mobile railcar repair and storage services, positioning it as a regional hub for light railcar maintenance and mobile repair efforts. The decision, according to Trinity, is a response to evolving market conditions and an effort to optimize its railcar maintenance operations across its network.
“Trinity recognizes the significant impact this restructuring will have on affected employees and is committed to providing resources and support during this transition,” the company stated.
Although some employees may apply for roles supporting the new focus on mobile repair and storage, Trinity did not disclose how many positions would be available or the total number of jobs ultimately lost. The statement also did not specify a timeline for the changes or detail any specific resources to aid affected employees.
“Trinity will maintain a presence in Jonesboro through mobile repair and storage operations,” the statement affirmed.
