A nationally recognized poet and author is set to headline the latest installment of the Terre Ware Author Lecture Series at Arkansas State University-Mountain Home (ASUMH).
Beth Ann Fennelly, a former Mississippi Poet Laureate, will speak Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Trout Room of The Sheid on the ASUMH campus. The event is free and open to the public, with no ticket required.
Fennelly, who lives in Oxford, Mississippi, served as her state’s poet laureate from 2016 to 2021 and is also a professor of creative writing.
Series namesake Terre Ware noted that the lecture series aims to introduce the community to a range of voices and perspectives in literature. Fennelly’s appearance, she said, offers an opportunity to explore a distinctive form of expression through Fennelly’s latest work, which includes a collection of short pieces known as "Micro Memoirs."
Ware also highlighted the enthusiastic community response to previous speakers in the series, including active audience participation in Q&A sessions. She said the program reflects the region’s strong interest in literature and the diverse offerings available through The Sheid.
