Bret Michaels, the lead singer of the rock band Poison, has postponed several dates on his Live & Amplified World Tour due to health concerns following surgery to remove a kidney stone.
In a Facebook post shared with fans, Michaels revealed that doctors diagnosed him with a “complicated obstructing kidney stone requiring immediate surgery” on July 19. Following the procedure, medical advice and underlying health factors have compelled him to rest and temporarily step away from performing.
According to the statement, Michaels, who also manages Type 1 diabetes and a lower back compression fracture, has been ordered to abstain from all live performances for three to four weeks. During this period, he is limited to light physical activity. His medical team will reevaluate his condition to determine when it will be safe for him to resume touring.
“I’m forever grateful for the amazing medical treatment and ongoing care throughout my personal life and career,” Michaels wrote. “I’m truly grateful for family, friends, fans, band, crew, and promoters for their understanding. If all goes well, I’ll be back on the road in late August delivering 1,000% energy, intensity, and truly nothing but a good time.”
