The City of Bull Shoals is set to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Bull Shoals Dam with a free public event, 'Dam Jam 2026,' on Saturday, September 26. The celebration will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Roy Danuser City Park and will feature music, food, vehicles, and family-friendly entertainment.
The event is organized by the City of Bull Shoals and the Bull Shoals-White River Chamber of Commerce, with sponsorship from 1st Security Bank. All donations collected during the event will benefit city parks.
Attendees can enjoy live performances from bands BLT Americana, Heavy Wrecker, and Ozark Thunder. More than 50 vendors and seven food trucks will also participate, offering a variety of options for food and shopping. Additionally, displays of motorcycles, classic cars, boats, and model trains will be showcased throughout the day.
Family activities will include a kids’ craft corner, the Great Dogwood Water Balloon Battle, a splash zone, and an airplane flight simulator. 1st Security Bank will host a weenie roast, with all donation proceeds supporting city parks.
The construction of Bull Shoals Dam began in 1947 under the direction of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and was completed in 1951. President Harry S. Truman officially dedicated the structure on July 2, 1952. The dam's creation formed Bull Shoals Lake, transforming the surrounding area from a small White River settlement into a popular resort and retirement destination.
