A Jonesboro man has been charged with 44 counts of possessing child sexual abuse material, and authorities have indicated that additional charges may be forthcoming.
Gregory Curtis Daffron, 35, was arrested on Sept. 22 and is currently held at the Craighead County Detention Center on a $250,000 cash or surety bond, according to court records. A district court judge also barred him from accessing the internet as a condition of his release.
The charges stem from a tip received by the Jonesboro Police Department from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The center flagged a Google account that had uploaded 44 videos containing child sexual abuse material. An investigation traced the account and its activity to Daffron.
Detective Adam Hampton stated in court documents that the videos reportedly depicted adults engaging in sexual acts with children as young as five and six years old. Police identified the IP address linked to the uploads as registered to a local residence where Daffron resides.
On the day of Daffron’s arrest, the Jonesboro Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Division executed a search warrant at his home with assistance from SWAT, U.S. Marshals, and the FBI. Authorities seized several electronic devices as part of their investigation.
Craighead County District Court Judge Tommy Fowler said during a probable cause hearing that while Daffron currently faces 44 charges, investigators could file more as the case develops. "That’s just what they have so far," the judge noted. "There could be well over 100 counts."
Daffron is scheduled to appear for a circuit court hearing on Oct. 26.
