JONESBORO, Ark. — Trinity Rail has announced plans to restructure operations at its Jonesboro facility, a move that will affect approximately 172 employees.
Jack Todd, vice president of public affairs for Trinity, stated in a press release Wednesday that the company will permanently discontinue fixed heavy maintenance operations at the Jonesboro site. However, the facility will remain open to support other functions.
"The Jonesboro site is not closing," Todd said. "Trinity will continue to use the location for mobile repair and storage operations."
The facility, which previously conducted large-scale maintenance work on railcars, will now focus on light railcar maintenance and serve as a regional hub for Trinity's mobile railcar repair unit.
The company plans to provide resources and support for employees affected by the restructuring. Todd added that some workers may have the opportunity to apply for positions related to the facility's ongoing mobile repair and storage efforts.
Trinity Rail operates facilities across the country, providing railcar leasing and maintenance services to a wide range of industries. The changes to the Jonesboro site reflect a shift in operational priorities within the organization.
