The Mountain Home High School boys golf team claimed the 5A-West Conference title Tuesday in a closely contested match at Big Creek Country Club, while the girls team came up short of advancing to state competition.
The Bombers edged out Alma by just one stroke to secure the championship, marking their first victory over the Airedales this season. Cody Cormican led Mountain Home with an even-par finish, securing second place overall in individual scores. Teagan Booy added a 78, Braxton Blagg contributed an 80, and Bailor Tate rounded out the team’s scoring with an 81. An 85 from Christian Chamberlin was not part of the team total but highlighted the squad’s depth.
Mountain Home head coach Brad Morris credited the team’s hard work and consistent preparation for the postseason victory. The Bombers will now head to the state tournament, scheduled for October 6 at Pine Bluff Country Club.
On the girls side, Mountain Home finished fifth in the conference standings with a team score of 338, falling 83 strokes behind Russellville, the 5A-West champion. Individually, Ashley Smith led the Lady Bombers with a score of 108. Rounding out the team were Ava Caples (113), Molly Wright (117), and Brylee Blasdel (148). Mountain Home fell just one spot shy of qualifying for the state tournament, and no individual golfers advanced.
Tuesday’s conference meet officially marked the beginning of postseason play for both teams, showcasing strong competition and laying the foundation for the boys' bid at the state level next month.
