A vehicle fire occurred outside Southside Preschool early Tuesday morning, prompting a swift response from first responders but resulting in no injuries.
According to Southside Volunteer Fire Department Chief Jeremy Loggins, the incident began when a preschool employee noticed their vehicle had stopped steering upon arriving at work. Witnesses said the driver let the vehicle coast into the school’s parking lot. When the hood was opened, the engine was fully engulfed in flames, Loggins said.
The Independence County Sheriff’s Department and members of the Southside Volunteer Fire Department quickly arrived at the scene. Authorities confirmed that all children at the preschool remained safe and were kept away from the fire.
Firefighter Lance Jennings, who was among those responding, identified the vehicle as a small, four-door Acura. He stated that the vehicle was a total loss.
Despite the frightening circumstances, no one was injured, and the fire was contained without further incident.
