A mini-reunion of Van Halen bandmates Alex Van Halen and David Lee Roth is set to take place during the upcoming TEDxFargo conference in Fargo, North Dakota.
Alex Van Halen, the drummer and co-founder of the legendary rock band, had already been announced as a participant in a virtual talk with artist Alex Vargas, scheduled for Thursday. An announcement on social media revealed that Roth, the band’s original frontman, will also join the conversation.
The event organizers promoted the discussion as “Three icons. One stage. One conversation you won’t want to miss.” While the talk will be conducted remotely, Vargas noted in a comment on Instagram that all three participants would be together in the same physical space for the live broadcast.
For those unable to attend, the session will be made available on YouTube “in a few weeks,” according to the post. It will offer the public a chance to hear insights from the once-collaborating rock legends and the artist closely tied to the band’s visual legacy.
Alex Vargas gained recognition for his 17-foot mural of Eddie Van Halen, painted on the wall of the Guitar Center in Hollywood, California. The piece serves as a tribute to the influential guitarist, who passed away in 2020 at the age of 65.
The announcement of Roth’s participation comes shortly after he canceled all but one of his remaining summer tour dates. The singer is still slated to perform on August 7 at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in Sturgis, South Dakota.
The highly anticipated TEDxFargo appearance will mark a rare public collaboration between Roth and Alex Van Halen following the band’s disbandment in 2020.
