A man is facing an aggravated assault charge after allegedly pointing a gun at someone during a fight at an Arkansas State University (A-State) fraternity house, according to court records.
On Monday, Craighead County District Judge David Boling found probable cause to charge 22-year-old Kemauree Keentae Henry with aggravated assault, a Class D felony.
The incident occurred on Sept. 18 at the Kappa Alpha fraternity house on A-State’s Jonesboro campus. According to an affidavit from Arkansas State University police, Henry and several acquaintances went to the fraternity house after being invited to a party by individuals described as "some girls.” However, when they arrived at the event, Henry and his group were denied entry, prompting an altercation.
During the fight, a victim, who was on the phone with emergency dispatch, alleged that Henry pointed a gun at him and asked, “Are you ready to die?”
Henry reportedly admitted to possessing a firearm but stated it was for self-defense, citing his concealed carry permit. Following Henry’s arrest, police officers said they did not initially recover the weapon. However, after obtaining a search warrant for Henry’s vehicle, officers discovered a loaded FN FNX-45 .45 ACP handgun beneath the driver’s seat. The affidavit noted the weapon was found in a “cocked and loaded” position.
Henry is being held on a $25,000 cash or surety bond and has been ordered not to possess firearms or other weapons as a condition of his release. His next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 26.
