Attendance at the 2026 Baxter County Fair fell slightly compared to the previous year as scorching temperatures took a toll on turnout. This year’s fair, held in Mountain Home, drew 13,024 attendees—down from nearly 14,000 in 2025, according to Baxter County Fair Board President Mike Bradshaw.
Bradshaw attributed the decline to the unrelenting heat that gripped the Twin Lakes area throughout the week. Speaking about the event’s atmosphere, he noted that despite the lower turnout, the fair maintained its traditional appeal, offering rides, exhibits, and entertainment for attendees.
“We had a few challenges this year with the weather, but overall, we were pleased with how it went,” Bradshaw said.
Participation in some of the horticulture competitions also saw a dip this year, a trend Bradshaw linked to the intense heat and drying conditions leading up to the event.
The fair officially concluded on Sunday, with organizers and vendors wrapping up activities and dismantling the midway. Bradshaw expressed gratitude to everyone who participated and contributed to the fair's success under challenging circumstances.
The Baxter County Fair is a long-standing tradition in north-central Arkansas, bringing together residents and visitors for food, games, agricultural showcases, and local crafts. While this year’s turnout fell slightly short of expectations, many fairgoers made the most of the offerings despite the weather.
