Jaden Craig led Texas Christian University (TCU) to a 31-7 victory over Arkansas State on Saturday night, throwing for 337 yards and three touchdowns. Despite a slow start, the Horned Frogs (2-1) gained control in the second half, denying the Red Wolves (1-2) several key opportunities.

A pivotal sequence came late in the third quarter. Arkansas State attempted to tie the game at 14 with a fourth-and-goal at the 1-yard line, but quarterback Trey Owens’ pass to Tyler Little fell incomplete. TCU took over and engineered a 99-yard scoring drive, capped by an 8-yard touchdown pass from Craig to Ka’Morreun Pimpton. The drive tied the program’s longest in school history, matching a similar effort against Kansas in 2018.

Craig, a transfer from Harvard, showcased his chemistry with receiver Ed Small, who recorded a career-high 164 yards, including a 17-yard touchdown. Small’s 22-yard reception secured a crucial first down during the 99-yard march. Craig also connected with Kari Ashley for a 29-yard score late in the fourth quarter.

"I’m proud of the way that we stepped up in big moments," TCU coach Sonny Dykes said. "Big-time players make big plays in big moments, and I thought we did that."

Arkansas State struggled to capitalize on opportunities, failing on all three fourth-down conversions. The Red Wolves' best chance came with the score at 14-7, but the failed attempt inside the 10-yard line shifted momentum toward the Horned Frogs. TCU, by contrast, converted two of its three fourth-down attempts, including a critical fourth-and-2 at the Arkansas State 12-yard line during the extended third-quarter drive.

Jeremy Payne contributed 86 rushing yards and a touchdown for TCU, while Arkansas State quarterback Trey Owens kept the Red Wolves competitive with a 34-yard run that set up their lone score—a 3-yard touchdown by Payne.

Having earned two wins against Big 12 opponents in recent years, Arkansas State appeared poised to add another but faded after the third quarter. The Red Wolves will look to regroup as they host Kennesaw State next Saturday, two weeks before beginning Sun Belt Conference play.

TCU, meanwhile, continues to build momentum as they prepare for the rest of their non-conference schedule.
