The Fred Berry Crooked Creek Nature Center will host a community cleanup event on Saturday, September 19, as part of Keep Arkansas Beautiful's annual Great Arkansas Clean Up campaign. The event will kick off at 8:30 a.m., with volunteers meeting at the pavilion located on Conservation Lane.
According to Heather Pitman, facility manager of the nature center, the focus will be on cleaning up the trails around Crooked Creek. Depending on volunteer availability, there may also be opportunities to assist with cleanup efforts on the water. Volunteers will spend several hours collecting trash and debris along the trails, swimming access points, and the nearby county road.
The event is free and open to individuals aged 5 and older, making it an appealing option for families seeking a chance to contribute to the environment together. Volunteers are advised to wear clothing suitable for both the weather and cleanup work. Registration is recommended to help organizers plan for attendance. Those arriving without prior registration will have the option to register onsite.
