The Yellville-Summit Panthers claimed a commanding 58-22 victory over the West Fork Tigers on Friday at Panther Stadium. A powerful offensive display, led by quarterback Westin Swearingen, anchored the Panthers' performance in front of their home crowd.
The Tigers struck first with a 30-yard touchdown pass and a two-point conversion for an early 8-0 lead. Yellville-Summit quickly answered when Swearingen found Kolton Layton for a 49-yard touchdown pass, narrowing the gap to 8-6. Shortly after, Timber Moses scored on a 3-yard run to give Yellville-Summit a 14-8 advantage with 8:16 left in the second quarter.
Swearingen showcased his versatility throughout the night, contributing with touchdown passes to Easton Voight, Tellem Hall, and Rusty Goodall, as well as his own interception return and rushing yards. Layton added multiple big-yardage receptions, including a 24-yard touchdown late in the final quarter. Despite a late West Fork score, the Panthers closed out the night with a decisive 58-22 win.
In Mountain View, the Yellowjackets shut out the Manila Lions with a commanding 35-0 victory at Yellowjacket Stadium. George Rector opened the game with a 45-yard kickoff return followed by a 10-yard touchdown run. Rector further bolstered Mountain View’s success with a 52-yard interception return for a touchdown during the first half.
Quarterback Noah Davis contributed with a 32-yard touchdown pass to Rector and a 2-point conversion pass to Trent Hudspeth. By halftime, Mountain View led 27-0. Rector sealed the win with a 41-yard scoring run in the second half, followed by a two-point conversion pass to Logan Hockenberry.
At Cougar Stadium, the Izard County Cougars overwhelmed the Woodlawn Bears in a 60-8 rout. Quarterback Kane Johnson spearheaded the Cougars’ offense, connecting with James Down for multiple touchdown passes, including scores of 15, 12, and 44 yards. Landon Aultman and Dylan Wallace contributed with several successful two-point conversion runs.
Woodlawn managed a lone touchdown before halftime to make it 32-8, but Izard County remained relentless. The Cougars added three second-half touchdowns, including a late 6-yard scoring run by Aultman to round out the impressive victory.
In other high school football action Friday night, Branson defeated West Plains 45-14, handing the Zizzers their first loss of the season. Liberty claimed a 32-7 victory over Ava.
