The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) has announced plans to fully close Highway 14 between Marie and Wilson in Mississippi County for one month, beginning Monday, Sept. 21.
The roadway will be closed in both directions from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday. During these times, crews will be working to reconstruct the pavement. However, the highway will reopen to limited traffic during non-work hours, with one lane open in each direction from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m., Monday through Thursday. Drivers will have full access to the roadway from Friday through Sunday.
ARDOT advises motorists to plan alternative routes around the closure. Traffic heading to the north side or south side of the impacted area will need to use designated detours. Details of those routes will be provided by ARDOT.
The agency emphasizes that the closure is necessary to ensure the safe and efficient completion of the pavement reconstruction. Travelers are encouraged to allow extra time for their commutes and exercise caution near construction zones.
