Authorities in Lawrence County successfully assisted a boater in distress on Lake Charles late Monday afternoon, according to local officials.
The Lawrence County Dispatch received a report indicating a stranded boater was experiencing mechanical issues and that the vessel was taking on water. Emergency responders, including deputies from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, personnel from the Black Rock Fire Department, and officers from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, were alerted to the incident. A request for additional support led to the deployment of the Strawberry Volunteer Fire Department and its specialized rescue vessel, Marine-1.
Responders located the distressed boat and its operator after arriving at the scene. Using Strawberry’s Marine-1 rescue unit, the boater and vessel were safely returned to shore. Officials confirmed there were no injuries reported during the operation.
Lake Charles, located in Lawrence County, is a popular destination for recreational boaters, making it a frequent area of focus for safety and rescue services. Authorities did not release additional details about the circumstances of the call or the condition of the boat.
