Jonesboro, Ark. – Motorists in Jonesboro are paying significantly more at the pump this week, with gas prices increasing by 15 cents per gallon in just seven days. According to the latest survey by the American Automobile Association (AAA), the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel in Jonesboro reached $4.06 on Thursday, up from $3.91 the previous week.
A year ago, drivers in Jonesboro were paying $2.80 per gallon—$1.26 less than this week’s price.
Statewide, Arkansas’s average gas price rose 11 cents to $4.03 per gallon. Meanwhile, the national average climbed 16 cents to $4.43 per gallon, according to the AAA report.
“Gas prices are back to what they were earlier this year during the spring, and the national average is inching closer to this year’s record high of $4.56 set on May 21,” the organization stated in its weekly update.
The rise reflects broader price trends across the state and the country, driven by factors typically affecting fuel costs such as market demand and seasonal consumption fluctuations.
