Water service in Mammoth Spring was restored late Wednesday afternoon after city crews spent the day repairing leaks across town.
City officials reported that the leaks were caused by dry ground conditions. As the soil dries, it shifts, which can disrupt infrastructure beneath the surface and, at times, above it.
Residents experienced a temporary shutdown of water service earlier in the day to allow crews to complete the necessary repairs. No further interruptions were expected as of Wednesday evening.
Mammoth Spring, located in Fulton County, is no stranger to challenges that come with seasonal changes. Residents were urged to report any additional issues to city officials so they could address potential problems quickly.
