The Yellville-Summit Panthers have been awarded $5,000 as part of T-Mobile’s Friday Night 5G Lights program, which supports small-town high schools across the nation. This initiative gives schools the opportunity to compete for prizes, including a $1 million football field upgrade grand prize.
The Panthers’ head football coach, Chase McCarthy, confirmed their participation and the presentation of the $5,000 check, which took place during their home game against the West Fork Tigers. "We entered that contest back in the spring, and they give away $5,000 each Friday," McCarthy said in remarks to KTLO, Classic Hits, and The Boot news. "They will be presenting us with a check this Friday at our game, and it keeps us in that process for the grand prize, as well. We are really excited about coming away with some big prize money to help support our kids."
The winner of the $1 million upgrade will be determined through a public online vote. Voting is now open and will close on October 24, with the grand prize winner set to be announced on October 30. To show support for the Panthers, fans are encouraged to share posts on social media, tag T-Mobile, and tag Yellville-Summit High School. The program is no stranger to Arkansas schools, as Dierks High School claimed the $1 million grand prize last year. The Panthers aim to bring home another win for the state while using the $5,000 prize money to enhance their football program.
