Thursday's schedule at the Baxter County Fair in Mountain Home includes free admission opportunities for seniors and veterans, alongside a packed lineup of events featuring livestock competitions, live entertainment, and carnival attractions.
Seniors aged 65 and older are eligible for free admission, courtesy of Troy Garland Insurance. Complimentary passes can be obtained by calling 870-425-0303. Veterans can also attend for free, with tickets available at the gate thanks to a promotion sponsored by Jim Brown Co. Both offers are valid from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The day begins early with livestock events. At 9 a.m., the dairy cattle and dairy goat show and showmanship competition will take place, followed by poultry and rabbit judging between 9:30 a.m. and noon. Additional livestock highlights include the breeding goat and breeding sheep events scheduled for the late morning, and breeding cattle shows kicking off in the early afternoon. The junior breeding cattle and commercial heifer event starts at 2 p.m., and the youth-focused rabbit showmanship competition begins at 3. The meat rabbit show starts with a weigh-in at 3:45 p.m., with competition set for 4. A guinea pig show will wrap up the afternoon livestock schedule.
At 6 p.m., the Livestock Show Arena will host a series of competitions involving market and breeding animals, including steers, goats, lambs, and sheep.
Indoors, a Senior Bingo Bash will run from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Commercial booths throughout the fairgrounds will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The carnival opens at 5 p.m., providing rides and games for attendees through the evening. Live music featuring the local band Nothin’ Knew will entertain fairgoers on the outdoor stage from 7 to 10 p.m.
