Jonesboro, Ark. — Three men are facing felony theft charges following the reported theft of a golf cart from the Arkansas State University campus. Authorities say surveillance and traffic camera footage played a critical role in tracking the vehicle and identifying the suspects.
Special Judge Barbara Halsey on Wednesday found probable cause to charge Caleb Deshaun Quinn, Robert Deshaun Selvy, and Taris Durell Randolph with theft of a vehicle valued at more than $1,000 but less than $5,000, according to court records.
The incident began on Sept. 14, when officers with the Arkansas State University Police Department received a report of a stolen golf cart from SS Custom Carts. The vehicle, valued at $4,750, had been leased to the A-State Alumni Association for use during football season, an affidavit stated.
Campus surveillance footage reportedly showed three individuals approaching the golf cart from Red Wolf Boulevard before taking it. The video allegedly captured the suspects driving the cart to Embassy Suites and then leaving the campus in a black Chevrolet Malibu. Traffic camera footage later tracked the golf cart traveling to a Maverick gas station on East Johnson Avenue and eventually meeting the Malibu on State Street, authorities said.
The golf cart was recovered the next day, Sept. 15, at about 11 a.m., according to police. Documents list Quinn, Selvy, and Randolph as the individuals arrested in connection with the theft. Each is being held on a $35,000 cash-or-surety bond and is scheduled for a court appearance on Oct. 26.
Investigators have not released additional details about the suspects or their motives. Updates to the case are expected in the coming weeks.
