Sales tax revenues in Baxter County and the City of Mountain Home are continuing to climb with five months remaining in 2026, according to recent figures.
Baxter County's collections for the month increased by 0.9 percent compared to the same period last year, an uptick of $4,741.18. Revenue allocated specifically for the Baxter County Jail also rose by 0.9 percent, adding $2,081.17 over last year’s numbers for the month.
Year-to-date, sales tax collections countywide have grown by 4.9 percent, amounting to an increase of $173,420.14. Revenue earmarked for jail operations has similarly followed this trend, rising $76,123.67 so far this year.
Additionally, projected revenue from the county’s portion of sales tax collections is currently tracking 2.3 percent ahead of last year’s figures. This increase represents a year-to-date gain of $84,403.36.
Baxter County’s consistent rise in sales tax revenue provides an important source of funding for key county operations, including its jail and other public services, and reflects broader economic activity in the region.
