BATESVILLE — The fourth annual Amigofest will bring a daylong celebration of Hispanic heritage to Batesville on Saturday, Sept. 19, with live music, dance performances, and traditional cuisine. The event will be hosted at Lyon College and runs from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Live mariachi performances—a highlight of earlier festivals—will return this year after a two-year absence. Additional entertainment will include dancers from a Chicago-based studio and a DJ providing music throughout the evening.
Attendees can enjoy complimentary food provided by Peco Foods from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Evening food vendors will offer authentic dishes from Central America and Mexico.
A new element of this year’s festival is the launch of the Amigofest Hispanic Heritage Scholarship Fund, an initiative aimed at supporting local students pursuing higher education or trade careers. The fund’s inaugural scholarships, set to benefit first-generation college students in particular, will be awarded in 2027, with the application process beginning this year.
