The Arkansas National Guard has deployed two UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters and other resources to assist firefighting efforts near Camden, where crews are working to contain a wildfire.
Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders directed the Guard’s 77th Expeditionary Combat Aviation Brigade to contribute to the ongoing response. The Black Hawk helicopters, equipped with Bambi buckets for aerial water drops, took off from Camp Joseph T. Robinson in North Little Rock around 7 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Arkansas National Guard.
In addition to the helicopters, the National Guard has sent two bulldozers and a fire plow, along with trained operators, to bolster ground efforts on the fire lines. A total of 10 Guard members are engaged in the operation.
State and local agencies continue working closely to mitigate the risk posed by the wildfire, as dry conditions in the region heighten the danger of fire spreading further. Authorities remind residents to remain cautious and follow any guidance from local emergency officials.
