A second suspect linked to a fire that destroyed a vacant house in Yellville earlier this year has been arrested. According to the Marion County Sheriff's Office, 19-year-old Katelynne Marie Leppe of Yellville was taken into custody Saturday.
Court documents state the fire occurred on January 16, consuming a home located at 1434 North Broadway. The homeowner informed deputies that while the residence was unoccupied, it had been a target of prior vandalism and trespassing incidents. The blaze caused a total loss, with the property valued at $15,380.
Nearly two weeks later, the sheriff's office received a tip implicating Leppe, along with 20-year-old Christina Rose Johnston and a third individual identified as Dustin Riner. During an interview, Johnston reportedly admitted that the group had entered the house and started a fire to stay warm. The flames, however, spread out of control and ultimately destroyed the structure.
Leppe is charged with felony arson and breaking or entering. She was released from custody after posting a $15,000 bond. Johnston, arrested on similar charges last month, is also out on bond. Authorities have issued a warrant for Riner, the third suspect in the case.
The investigation is ongoing.
