The Buffalo National River Partners are seeking volunteers to assist as 'information rangers' on weekends throughout October at four notable sites in the scenic Boxley Valley area.
Volunteers will be stationed at Lost Valley, the Ponca Low-Water Bridge, Elk Lookout on Highway 43, and the historic Boxley Mill to provide visitors with helpful information about the region. Ideally, officials would like to have two volunteers stationed at each site, but single individuals are welcome to assist as well.
Participants will be provided with materials to guide their service, including area fact sheets, answers to commonly asked questions, a VIP vest, and a walkie-talkie for communication.
Shifts run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteers are asked to meet at the Elk pullout on Highway 43 at 9:30 a.m. for a brief orientation and to pick up their supplies.
