The Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) has announced two free community events aimed at supporting maternal health in Northwest and Southeast Arkansas. The events, scheduled for this fall, are designed to connect expectant and new mothers, their families, and support networks with a range of resources and services.
These regional events build on the success of the third annual MOM Block Party and Women’s Health Expo held earlier this year in Little Rock. Each gathering will feature ADH programs, Arkansas Health Unit (AHU) representatives, healthcare professionals, community organizations, and service providers to help attendees learn about local maternal health resources and guide them to next steps for care.
The events will focus on providing information about maternal and postpartum health, family planning, breastfeeding support, immunizations, the Women, Infants, and Children nutrition program (WIC), and other services available through AHUs and partner organizations. The goal is to equip families with trusted information and access to care within their own communities.
“Families should be able to find support and trusted information close to home,” said Arkansas Secretary of Health Renee Mallory. “By bringing these events to Northwest and Southeast Arkansas, we can connect more women and families with health professionals, community organizations, and services that can support them throughout pregnancy and beyond.”
The first event will take place in Northwest Arkansas on Saturday, October 10, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Jones Center, located at 922 E. Emma Ave., Springdale, AR 72764. Additional details, including the date and location for the Southeast Arkansas event, will be announced soon.
