HBO has announced the casting of three new additions to its 'Harry Potter' series, which is set to return for a second season. Rafe Spall will take on the role of Arthur Weasley, Molly Hewitt-Richards has been cast as Moaning Myrtle, and Jasper Ambrose will play the enthusiastic young photographer Colin Creevey.
Arthur Weasley, the head of the Weasley family, is best known as the father of Ron Weasley, Harry Potter's close friend. Moaning Myrtle, a ghost who haunts the bathrooms at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, is a fan-favorite character from the original series. Meanwhile, Colin Creevey is a devoted admirer of Harry Potter and is rarely seen without his camera.
The three actors join a growing list of cast members for the highly anticipated series, which HBO has described as a faithful adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s books. Dominic McLaughlin leads the cast as Harry Potter, with Alastair Stout and Arabella Stanton portraying Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Other confirmed cast members include Kit Harington as Gilderoy Lockhart, Bonnie Hill as Ginny Weasley, Billy Barratt as a young Tom Riddle, and Lenny Rush as the house-elf Dobby.
Season 2, announced on May 6, was confirmed months ahead of the premiere of the first season. The first episode of 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone' is scheduled to air on Christmas Day 2026 on HBO. Production on the second season is slated to begin in fall 2026.
J.K. Rowling, the original author of the Harry Potter books, serves as an executive producer for the series.
