The Mountain Home Fire Department (MHFD) pulled off a decisive victory against the Mountain Home Police Department (MHPD) during the fifth annual charity ragball game on Sunday, securing a series lead of 3-2. The game, held in Mountain Home, ended with a score of 18-8 in favor of the fire department, continuing their streak after also winning last year’s match.
This year’s event raised $2,400 to support Waylon Callahan, a local boy diagnosed with hypoplastic right heart syndrome, tricuspid atresia, transposition of the great arteries, dextrocardia, and multiple holes in his heart. The funds were presented to Waylon’s grandfather, Jason Carter, by representatives from both teams. In an earlier statement, the MHPD referred to Waylon as "our little warrior fighting for his life."
The rivalry game has become a local tradition, bringing the fire and police departments together for a friendly yet competitive matchup in support of good causes. With the series now in MHFD’s favor, the MHPD is looking ahead to 2027 to even the score. The rivalry trophy will remain at the fire department’s headquarters until the next game.
