A Forrest City man is facing 135 criminal charges for allegedly sending threatening letters to school officials, public workers, and residents in Paragould over nearly a year.
Greene County District Court Judge Curtis Hitt found probable cause to charge Cody Taylor, 26, with multiple felony and misdemeanor counts, according to Paragould Police Capt. Robert Sexton.
Court documents indicate the letters, sent between Oct. 1, 2025, and Sept. 5, 2026, included threats of death, kidnapping, stalking, sexual violence, and acts of gun violence targeting government buildings. Investigators said most of the letters falsely appeared to come from a local educator, which generated more than a dozen police reports.
A break in the case came on Sept. 5 when law enforcement received a tip containing details consistent with the threatening correspondence. Capt. Sexton said police traced the tip’s IP address back to Taylor and identified connections between him and several of the intended recipients of the letters.
Officers executed search warrants at Taylor’s home in St. Francis County on Sept. 11. According to Sexton, Taylor immediately referenced the letters upon their arrival, allegedly admitting during a later interview that he had sent them while impersonating others.
Judge Hitt has ordered Taylor to remain in custody at the Greene County Detention Center under a $750,000 cash or surety bond. Additional court orders require Taylor to have no contact with the victims and to undergo a mental evaluation. Should he be released, he will be required to wear a GPS ankle monitor.
The investigation is ongoing.
