GoodWorks, a volunteer center affiliated with the Jones Center, hosted its inaugural Day of Service on Saturday, bringing together volunteers and 14 nonprofits to work on projects across Northwest Arkansas. The event was part of this year’s Welcoming Week NWA and garnered participation from residents in Fayetteville, Springdale, Rogers, Bentonville, Bella Vista, and Lowell.
According to an official event release, the Day of Service offered a variety of opportunities for participants to make an impact. Projects included creek cleanups, gardening and outdoor work, building maintenance, and donation packaging. Organizers encouraged families and first-time volunteers to join.
“We encourage everyone—families, students, groups—to get involved,” said Coletta Patterson, planning director for GoodWorks. “Pick a project, and in just a few hours’ time, you’ll see the impact. We’ve designed it to be an easy way to give back through a variety of activities across the region.”
One of the participating nonprofits was Purpose Brands 414, which held a project in Fayetteville. Participants contributed to setting up the organization’s new initiative focusing on men’s apparel, shoes, and accessories.
“Volunteers are an essential part of the PB414 mission,” said Danna Fields, volunteer program director for Purpose Brands 414. “When people choose to give their time, they’re investing in their community and helping create dignity, hope, and opportunity for others. We’re excited to be part of GoodWorks’ first Day of Service and hope it encourages more people to discover the joy and impact of volunteering, not only with us, but with nonprofits throughout Northwest Arkansas.”
The event aligns with GoodWorks’ broader mission to connect residents, support nonprofits, and foster a culture of volunteerism across the region.
