A new scout troop is taking shape in Horseshoe Bend, and a community fish fry has been organized to support its launch.
The Horseshoe Bend Boating, Fishing, and Sportsmen’s Club will host the fundraising event next Saturday, September 19, at Veterans Park in Horseshoe Bend. The fish fry will begin at 5:30 p.m., featuring fried fish, Dutch oven desserts, and all the traditional fixings. Admission is by donation.
Uriah Mead, president of the hosting club, stated that the community hopes to turn the fish fry into an annual tradition. “Last year, we organized a fish fry to benefit victims of a local grocery store fire. This year, we’re proud to support the new scout troop, many of whom will be helping cook and serve the meal,” Mead said.
The new troop aims to encourage youth development and provide leadership opportunities through scouting programs. For more information on the fish fry or how to help, contact 870-373-0916.
