Rain began late Thursday night and continued through midday Friday across north-central and northeast Arkansas, with significant rainfall totals recorded in several areas. Hoxie received the highest total at six inches, according to local reports. Imboden recorded four inches, while three and a half inches fell at Norfork Dam. The Highland weather station reported 2.17 inches.
The heavy rain has brought temporary relief to dry conditions in some areas. In response, Lawrence County Judge Gary Barnhill announced that the burn ban in Lawrence County was lifted on Friday. However, burn bans remain in place for surrounding counties, including Izard, Sharp, Fulton, Randolph, Independence, Stone, and Baxter Counties.
The National Weather Service forecasts a sunny and hot weekend, but there is a chance of more rain by midweek.
