Bond has been set at $1 million each for Brandon and Sierra Britten, who were arrested in Independence County in connection with a child abduction case involving a juvenile from South Carolina. Circuit Judge Kimberly Edington determined there was probable cause for the arrests on Friday, September 11, 2026, following the presentation of a probable cause statement by investigators.
According to the Independence County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began on September 9, 2026, when authorities in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, contacted the office around 3:00 p.m. regarding a suspected abduction. Independence County investigators quickly identified a possible location of the child, arriving on-site at approximately 3:15 p.m.
Deputies on the scene made contact with the Brittens, who were taken into custody without incident. The juvenile was found and transported to the Children’s Advocacy Center of Independence County, where she underwent a forensic interview and medical evaluation. Local officials also executed a search warrant at the location to collect evidence related to the ongoing investigation.
Later that evening, the child was placed at the Arkansas Sheriff’s Youth Ranch until her parents could travel to Arkansas from South Carolina. The juvenile was reunited with her family the following morning on September 10, 2026.
The Independence County Sheriff’s Office is working closely with the local FBI field office to pursue possible federal charges in the case. Formal charges against the Brittens will be determined by the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office as the investigation continues.
