Dr. Carrie Hunter, Medical Director of 1st Choice Healthcare, has received two prestigious honors from the Arkansas Academy of Family Physicians.
Dr. Hunter was named Preceptor of the Year for her contributions to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Northeast Family Medicine Residency Program’s rural medicine rotation. According to program details, Dr. Hunter led efforts to organize and host the rotation at 1st Choice Healthcare, offering family medicine residents firsthand experience in providing care to patients in rural Arkansas. The partnership not only trains the next generation of physicians but also serves as a recruitment tool for the region, with some residents returning to practice in local communities after their training.
In addition to this accolade, Dr. Hunter was also awarded Fellowship in the American Academy of Family Physicians (FAAFP). This distinction recognizes physicians who demonstrate a commitment to professional growth, continuing education, and contributions to advancing family medicine.
Dr. Hunter attended the awards ceremony accompanied by her daughter, a second-year medical student at UAMS in Little Rock.
The honors highlight Dr. Hunter’s dedication to rural healthcare, medical education, and strengthening the physician workforce in underserved areas of Arkansas.
