The Yellville-Summit Panthers will take the field Friday night against the Greenland Pirates in an away game at Jonathan Ramey Stadium. The Panthers, coming off a bye week, have focused their preparations on facing a physical and versatile run-oriented offense.
Head coach Chase McCarthy has emphasized the importance of discipline as the Panthers face a Greenland team led by running back EJ Johnson and experienced quarterback Kyle Farquharson. Both players are expected to challenge Yellville-Summit’s defense.
During the break, McCarthy noted that several Panthers have emerged as team leaders, a development he believes will be crucial to securing a victory. Kickoff for the game is set for 7 p.m. in Greenland, located in Washington County.
Meanwhile, the Mountain View Yellowjackets will host the Green Forest Tigers in their home opener Friday evening. After battling Harrisburg last week, Mountain View is eager to rebound and put a win in the books.
Yellowjackets head coach Curtis Sims took positives from last week’s game, which included a touchdown and a two-point conversion in the first half and a near-score inside Harrisburg’s red zone during the third quarter. Sims highlighted the team’s week-long effort to correct mistakes made in their season opener.
According to Sims, Green Forest will pose challenges on offense with their ability to shift between formations, including the I-formation, Wishbone, and spread. Ensuring ball security and relying on the senior leadership core are key elements for the Yellowjackets’ game plan. Sims also pointed to the value of playing on their home turf as an advantage.
The game at Mountain View will also kick off at 7 p.m.
