A Baxter County man pleaded guilty Tuesday to violating the rules governing registered sex offenders, according to court records. Larry Dwayne Yancey, Jr., 49, received a 36-month probation sentence and 447 days of jail time credit during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court.
Court documents indicate Yancey appeared at the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office in May 2025 to fulfill registration requirements. He reportedly presented a handwritten note listing an address along State Highway 201 South and claimed to have lived there for several months. However, he could not identify his prior registered address or provide further details about his residence history, stating he had lived in Evening Shade but could not specify an exact location.
A review of Yancey’s registration history revealed inconsistent compliance with legal obligations. Records show he registered in Marion County in 2017 and interacted with the registration program at different times in Baxter and Sharp Counties. Court filings also list an array of addresses associated with Yancey, including locations in Truman, Evening Shade, Oakland, and the Mountain Home area. In one instance, a Marion County deputy found a listed address to be fabricated during a routine check.
Yancey’s current charge is classified as a Class C felony. He is categorized as a Level 2 sex offender, required to register following a prior conviction for second-degree sexual assault. According to an affidavit in that case, Yancey admitted to having a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old girl in 2002 in Baxter County.
He has been held in the Baxter County Detention Center since June 2025, with bond originally set at $15,000.
