Residents of Sharp and Izard Counties are invited to attend memorial services today in observance of Patriots Day. Organized by local veterans service organizations, the events aim to honor those who have served.
In Sharp County, a memorial service will take place at 9 a.m. in the John A. Cooper Memorial Gym at Highland High School. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be broadcast live on KSAR 92.3 FM and through myhometownradiostations.com.
At the same time, the Izard County STEM School will host its sixth annual Patriots Day ceremony. That event is scheduled to be held at Cougar Stadium in Brockwell and is also open to the public.
Both ceremonies reflect ongoing community efforts to recognize the contributions and sacrifices of military personnel.
