By 5 a.m., Walnut Ridge had recorded over an inch of rain, according to local weather reports. The National Weather Service (NWS) forecasts the rain to persist into midday, easing off later in the day as skies gradually clear.
The improved weather will offer ideal conditions for Friday night's high school football games, with clear skies expected. However, the brief cool-down will be short-lived. Sunny skies and temperatures climbing into the mid-90s, accompanied by heat indices reaching triple digits, are forecast for both Saturday and Sunday.
Residents are encouraged to stay alert for potential changes in weather conditions and plan accordingly for the return of intense heat over the weekend.
