U.S. Senate candidate Hallie Shoffner will meet with voters on Monday, September 14, at The Elms Barn in Flippin. The event, organized by the Democratic Party of Marion County, will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at 3540 Highway 62 East. It is open to the public, and attendees will be served light refreshments.
Shoffner, a Democrat, is running against Republican Sen. Tom Cotton in the November 3 general election. Cotton, who is seeking a third term, has held his seat since 2015.
A sixth-generation farmer from outside Newport, Shoffner spent her early years on a soybean and rice farm. She earned a degree from Vanderbilt University and furthered her education at the Clinton School of Public Service. Throughout her career, she has concentrated on issues such as conservation, sustainable agriculture, regional food systems, and hunger relief programs.
“I’m running for the United States Senate because I have seen firsthand how policy decisions affect real people and real communities,” Shoffner said. “I will fight for Arkansas every day, because I believe hard work should mean a good life again.”
