The Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) has introduced a new toll-free hotline to connect women across the state with pregnancy testing, prenatal care, and a range of maternal health services. The Claim Your Care Hotline, accessible by dialing 1-844-808-2340, is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Through the hotline, callers can locate their nearest Arkansas Health Unit (AHU), inquire about available services, and schedule appointments for women’s health care. Assistance is offered in multiple languages via interpreters, arranged through a three-way call system.
The services provided by AHUs include pregnancy testing; comprehensive prenatal care such as blood work, gestational diabetes testing, blood pressure monitoring, fetal heart rate assessments, and growth tracking; postpartum care; mental health screenings; breastfeeding assistance; enrollment in the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC); and referrals to specialized care.
Arkansas Surgeon General Dr. Kay Chandler highlighted the importance of the initiative, stating, “Regular prenatal care can help reduce the risk of serious complications and death for both mothers and babies. Early and regular visits allow healthcare providers to identify and manage health concerns early, including gestational diabetes, high blood pressure, and other complications that may arise during pregnancy and delivery.”
The hotline is part of the Claim Your Care campaign, launched in May 2026 by Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders. This education initiative aims to increase awareness of maternal health resources offered through AHUs and encourage women to use these services as a first point of care before, during, or after pregnancy.
Claim Your Care aligns with broader efforts under Arkansas's Healthy Moms, Healthy Babies Act, enacted in 2025. The legislation, also championed by Governor Sanders, aims to expand support and improve health outcomes for mothers and infants statewide. By increasing access to care, the state hopes to address long-standing maternal health challenges and provide families with a healthier start.
AHUs are located across all 75 counties in Arkansas, providing convenient access to care for residents. While appointments are encouraged to ensure the availability of the appropriate provider, they are not required. Services at AHUs are available regardless of a person’s insurance status or ability to pay, with no out-of-pocket costs for those in need.
