PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Paragould man is facing multiple felony charges after a family dispute allegedly turned violent, culminating in threats and the pointing of a firearm.
Danny Martin has been charged with three counts of aggravated assault on a family or household member, a Class D felony, and one count of first-degree terroristic threatening, also a Class D felony. He additionally faces one count of third-degree domestic battering, a Class A misdemeanor, according to court records.
Police responded to the incident on Michelle Drive on Sept. 5 after receiving a call reporting an armed disturbance. When officers arrived, three adults who were outside the residence informed them that Martin had attacked his stepson during an argument, punching him in the face, according to a probable cause affidavit. The stepson told authorities he fought back, striking Martin in self-defense as the alleged assault occurred.
Following the physical altercation, Martin reportedly retreated to a back room where he loaded a rifle. Witnesses stated that they heard the weapon being “cocked” before Martin returned and pointed the rifle at all three family members while allegedly threatening, “I’m going to kill someone.”
The victims then fled the home and called law enforcement.
Officers documented injuries on both Martin and his stepson. While Martin was transported by EMS to a local hospital for treatment, the stepson declined medical evaluation. Following his medical release, Martin was taken into custody and booked into the Greene County Jail.
A judge reviewed the case and determined probable cause for Martin’s arrest, setting bond at $150,000 with the option for a surety bond. As conditions of release, Martin is prohibited from contacting the victims or witnesses and is barred from possessing any weapons.
The investigation remains ongoing. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
