Lyon College will launch its 2026-27 Convocation lecture series with a Holocaust remembrance and education event titled “Generation to Generation: Dignity.” The program, featuring speaker Al Bromberg, will take place at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at Lyon College in Batesville, located at 2300 Highland Road.
The event will include a presentation by Bromberg, a resident of Paragould, who will recount the survival story of his father, Harry Bromberg. Born in Poland in 1919, Harry Bromberg endured and survived imprisonment in nine Nazi work, concentration, and death camps during the Holocaust. The presentation will be followed by a screening of the documentary “Generation to Generation: Dignity,” which is part of an award-winning series by BNB Productions focusing on preserving Holocaust survivor testimonies.
Admission to the program is free, and it is open to the public.
Harry Bromberg, a shoemaker by trade, depended in part on his skills to survive the atrocities of the Nazi regime. His story, marked by immense perseverance and loss, is now being preserved and shared by his son. Al Bromberg’s recounting of his father’s journey also highlights connections between Holocaust history and communities in Arkansas, providing a powerful lens for remembrance.
Bromberg has been active in sharing his family’s story alongside broader lessons of Holocaust history through presentations to schools, congregations, and community groups. He also moderates the Facebook group “Heritage of the Holocaust,” which has nearly 19,000 members and serves as a platform for discussion and education. His outreach work centers on preserving historical records while encouraging reflection on the enduring lessons of the Holocaust.
The Lyon College event represents an opportunity for participants to connect with one family’s experiences and reflect on the importance of recording personal testimony as a component of historical understanding.
“Generation to Generation: Dignity” seeks to foster greater awareness of Holocaust history while encouraging intergenerational dialogue about the value of resilience and the need to actively combat hatred and intolerance.
