Paragould police have arrested a man in connection with a weekend shooting that claimed the life of his roommate.

Captain Jason Elms of the Paragould Police Department said officers responded to a reported shooting Sunday, Sept. 6, in the 900 block of East Court Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered Scott Hendrix suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Investigators later arrested Hendrix's roommate, 55-year-old Steven Van Sickle, in connection with the shooting. Van Sickle has been charged with first-degree murder and is being held in the Greene County Jail on a $1 million bond.

Elms stated on Tuesday that the investigation remains ongoing and no further details are available at this time.
