Veterans in northeast Arkansas and southeast Missouri can access free flu vaccinations during September, October, and November through clinics organized by the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center. This outreach seeks to provide easy access to influenza vaccines for area Veterans.
According to a statement from Ashley Aubuchon, who manages the VA’s health promotion and disease prevention programs, the clinics are designed to reduce logistical barriers to vaccination. "Our drive-through clinics make it quick, convenient, and easy for Veterans to protect themselves from influenza — all from the comfort of their vehicle," said Aubuchon.
Veterans attending the clinics are asked to bring their VA health identification card. While other vaccinations may also be available, health officials encourage attendees to receive their flu shot first and consult their primary care providers for additional immunizations as needed.
The following locations and times have been announced for the drive-through and walk-in flu shot clinics:
- **Poplar Bluff, MO (Main Campus):** Beginning Sept. 25, available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. - **West Plains, MO (VA Clinic):** Oct. 2–3, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. - **Paragould, AR (VA Clinic):** Oct. 5, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. - **Sikeston, MO (VA Clinic):** Oct. 7, 8 a.m. to noon - **Farmington, MO (VA Clinic):** Oct. 12, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. - **Cape Girardeau, MO (VA Clinic):** Oct. 14, 9 a.m. to noon - **Pocahontas, AR (VA Clinic):** Oct. 18, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Veterans who are unable to attend a clinic can still receive their flu vaccine at their next primary care appointment or through a local VA in-network provider. A listing of community providers is available on the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs website.
