PARAGOULD, Ark. — Authorities arrested a 75-year-old Paragould man who allegedly pointed a rifle at three people and threatened to kill someone during a domestic dispute.
Danny Martin is being held on a $150,000 cash or surety bond. Greene County District Judge Curtis Hitt found probable cause to charge Martin with three counts of aggravated assault on a family or household member and one count of terroristic threatening, all Class D felonies. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of domestic battering in the third degree.
Paragould police responded to the disturbance on Sunday, Sept. 5, at a residence on Michelle Drive. According to an affidavit from Investigator Tyler Williams, three adult victims reported that an argument escalated when Martin punched his stepson in the face. The stepson retaliated by striking Martin back, the affidavit stated.
After the physical altercation, Martin reportedly went to a back room, where he retrieved, loaded, and cocked a rifle before pointing it at all three victims. The victims alleged that Martin shouted he was going to kill someone while aiming the firearm, Williams wrote in court records.
The victims said they fled the residence and contacted police. Officers arriving on the scene documented Martin’s facial injuries. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment before being released into police custody and transported to the Greene County Detention Center.
Martin remains in custody while awaiting further proceedings.
Police and court officials have not released additional details about the incident as the investigation continues.
