The Ozark Gateway region enjoyed a brief respite from scorching summer temperatures on Labor Day, with a high of 92 degrees reported by Hometown Radio’s weather station in Highland. However, forecasters expect rising heat to settle back into the area over the next several days.
Temperatures are expected to climb to near 100 degrees Tuesday and push into the low 100s by Wednesday. Relief may come later in the week, with a 70 percent chance of rain forecast for Thursday. Rainfall amounts between half an inch and two inches are possible from Thursday through the weekend.
Despite the potential for precipitation, burn bans remain in effect across several counties due to dry conditions. As of Monday, Fulton, Izard, Sharp, Stone, Independence, Baxter, and Marion counties continue to enforce bans on outdoor burning to prevent wildfires.
Residents are advised to exercise caution with fire, monitor weather updates, and follow local restrictions as conditions evolve throughout the week.
