JONESBORO, Ark. — Jasmine Tran, a graduate student at, has been named a recipient of the prestigious Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) Scholarship for the 2026-27 academic year. The $15,000 scholarship is awarded to outstanding accounting students nationwide.
Tran, a first-generation college student from Paragould, is pursuing a Master of Accountancy with a focus on data analytics at A-State, where she also completed her undergraduate studies. She expressed gratitude to her university’s accounting department for nominating her for the award, noting that the scholarship will significantly ease the financial burden of her education.
“This scholarship allows me to focus on my coursework and preparation for a career in public accounting without worrying as much about finances,” Tran said. “It’s an honor that helps me continue pursuing my master’s degree, which is a meaningful achievement for me. I am incredibly thankful to the PCAOB and A-State for investing in students and the future of accounting professionals.”
Tran credited her professors with supporting her academic success and encouraging her to excel. She added that the scholarship will enable her to keep growing professionally as she works toward her career goals.
Dr. James Doering, chair of the Department of Accounting and the HCJ CPAs & Advisors, and Louis and Ann Schaff Distinguished Professor of Accounting in the Neil Griffin College of Business, nominated Tran for the scholarship.
“Jasmine embodies the caliber of students our accounting programs strive to develop,” Doering said. “After excelling in our undergraduate accounting with data analytics program, she chose to continue her education in the master’s program, demonstrating her dedication to expanding her knowledge and preparing for a successful career in accounting.”
Tran is among a select group of students across the nation chosen as PCAOB Scholars, an accomplishment that highlights the strength of A-State’s accounting programs. Several Arkansas State students have received the honor in recent years.
“This scholarship reflects the quality of our programs and the excellent preparation our students receive for careers in accounting,” Doering added.
The PCAOB, a nonprofit oversight body established by Congress in 2002, regulates the audits of public companies, brokers, and dealers to protect investors and the public interest. Since 2011, the board has awarded more than $20 million in scholarships, demonstrating its commitment to fostering the next generation of accounting professionals.
